Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority accused of luring new pledges into sex ring

A US sorority has been accused of pimping out newly initiated sisters in a campus prostitution ring designed to cover membership fees.

Fort Valley State University have confirmed former Alpha Kappa Alpha advisor Alecia Johnson is being investigated for her alleged involvement in luring new members into prostitution.

The former executive to the university's president has denied all allegations and no charges have been laid.

She resigned on April 18 – the same day the sorority's national office announced a probe into "unauthorized activities and misconduct involving current and former members".

Her lawyer said her resignation had been unjustifiably twisted into an admission of guilt, prompting significant online backlash.

"She's not a pimp, and she's not a madam - none of that," Adrian Patrick told WSB-TV.

"She's not guilty. She did not do anything."

Ms Johnson served as a graduate advisor for the sorority. Patrick said the allegations against her are "incredulous", adding prostitution was "inconsistent with the reputation" of the sorority involved.

"I mean, I know people want to be in a sorority," he said. "I got that part. I just don’t think you’re going to sell your body."

He told WSB-TV he planned to question the credibility of the original accusers.
