Car and trailer dance in the wind as wild weather hits New York state

A car and a trailer in a US driveway have lifted off the ground and spun after a strong gust of wind whipped through the neighbourhood.

The strange scene was filmed from multiple angles by the New York home owner's security cameras.

Western New York was hammered by a potential tornado, with images and videos swamping social media.

The National Weather service issued a tornado warning, saying radar had indicated a twister could be forming.

According to New York Upstate, the service tweeted: "Radar indicated tornado south of Orchard Park moving east toward West Falls. Take Cover Now!"

The warning was for parts of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Erie and Wyoming counties.

The storm – which felled a number of trees and fences - caused havoc for power with more than 20,000 customers were out of power, according to utility companies.
