A US shelter is searching for a new home for a very unusual and inseparable trio of pets - a pig and two dogs.

Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix Papkrika and Pickles and Pattie the pig were dumped at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County shelter in September.

They have since become shelter staff favourites, with manager Sarah McKillip describing the trio as a “family”.

"They sleep together. They do everything together, go for walks together. The littlest one rides the pig's back,” she told WFMZ-TV.

“When we first got them, we once moved everyone outside to clean the kennels, but Pattie found a way to open the door into the kennel and let the two dogs in.

“We had to chase the three of them through the kennel. It was hilarious.”

The shelter is keen to find “Triple P” a new home, but are reluctant to see the trio broken up.

"We get a lot of interest in either the pig alone or the dogs alone, and we're really trying to keep them together," Ms McKillip said.

Ms McKillip is concerned 54kg Pattie will be a “tough sell”.

"She's obviously not small. She gets a little bit grumpy like some pigs do," she said.

“It will be heartbreaking…because she would probably be the one that’s left behind.

“I don’t want to separate them, so [someone] please come help.”
