US President Donald Trump is reportedly pulling out the Paris climate accord.

A White House official says President Donald Trump is expected to withdraw the US from the Paris climate accord.

The official said, however, there may be "caveats in the language" that Mr Trump uses to announce the withdrawal - leaving open the possibility that the decision isn't final.

The official insisted on anonymity in order to discuss the decision before the official announcement.

Donald Trump tweeted he will make an announcement over the agreement in the coming days.

Nearly 200 nations, including the United States and Australia, agreed in 2015 to voluntarily reduce their greenhouse gas emissions in an effort to combat climate change.

During Mr Trump's overseas trip last week, European leaders pressed him to keep the US in the landmark agreement.

He had promised during his presidential campaign to pull the US out of the deal.

It comes as Finland's Prime Minister Juha Sipila told parliament on Wednesday such a move would be a "big setback".

"If this is true, it is a big setback. Then, we must find partners to continue, because this work must not stop," Mr Sipila said.

Shortly after the news broke, the United Nations tweeted "Climate change is undeniable. Clime action is unstoppable."
