US officials kill 5 bears after attack
Florida wildlife officials have killed five bears after an attack on a woman in the driveway outside her home.
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers say they shot one bear and euthanised four others on Sunday night.
Forty-five-year-old Terri Frana was attacked by a large bear on Saturday.
Her husband has told WFTV the bear had his wife's head in her mouth and dragged her about 1.3 metres toward a wooded area.
He says she managed to escape from the bear's jaw and then ran inside the house where she collapsed.
She was treated at a hospital and released.
Officials say the bear that was shot was aggressive and didn't react to them as a bear normally would.
Experts say this is the time of the year when bears leave their winter dens.
