A US fireman has used an exercise machine at a gym to honour his “fallen brothers and sisters” on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Lezlie Bauler, an employee at a gym in Maryville, Tennessee, was yesterday asked by a local firefighter if he was allowed to use the facility’s stair climber “fully suited” in his uniform.

He told her he wanted to climb 110 sets in “honour of his fallen brothers and sisters on 9/11”.

Ms Bauler happily obliged and captured the firefighter in action before posting the photograph to social media.

The post was shared by more than 100,000 Facebook users, one of whom identified the mystery man as Jason Harding.

Mr Harding released a statement to social media soon after emphasising he “was not looking for any self-recognition”.

“When I went to the gym this morning at 6am before coming onto shift I was only wanting to honor the fallen heroes and their families on this day 15 years ago,” he wrote.

“I was not and am still not looking for any self-recognition.”
