US Election: Why Aussie Trump supporters want to ‘make America great again’

Three Australians have told the TODAY Show they travelled all the way to New York to support Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in the US election.

The trio wore “Make America Great Again” T-shirts and caps as they spoke to 9NEWS reporter Tom Steinfort about their respect for the controversial candidate.

Although they are unable to vote in the election, they said they were excited to be among the crowds.

“It’s a once in a lifetime event,” one of the men said.

“I’m glad to be here while it’s happening.” 

Another man said he had received some reactions of “horror, repulsion (and) disgust” after revealing he was campaigning for the Republican Candidate.
