'Chris Wallace for president’: Moderator the unlikely star of final debate

US presidential debate moderator Chris Wallace has emerged as the big winner from today’s showdown in Las Vegas.

The Fox News anchor and veteran journalist has been widely praised for his ability to keep both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton on point.

At times he challenged the candidates on their statements, but allowed both White House hopefuls to lay out their platforms.

"It was a very well controlled debate, which the moderator deserves credit for," Nine Political Editor Laurie Oakes said.

"It was a good debate because it was held to the issues, and it shed a lot of light on the attitude of both candidates on important issues," he added.

And viewers all over the world agreed.

Some people were swayed so much they want Wallace to become the next Commander-in-Chief.
