The woman suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene, reports the Mirror.

It’s believed she was travelling home to Bristol from the Christmas markets in Bath, the Bristol Post reports.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

A statement from British Transport Police said; “We were called at around 10.10pm following a report a woman had received serious head injuries while travelling.

“Officers from BTP attended along with colleagues from Avon and Somerset police and South Western ambulance, but despite their best efforts, the woman died at the scene.

“Officers are currently working to confirm her identity and inform her next of kin,” it read.
