Woman on toilet bitten by snake on bum

A woman in Spain got a nasty surprise after a snake crawled out of her toilet bowl and bit her on the bottom.

Iris Castroverde, 30, was seated on the toilet when she heard a muffled noise which was quickly followed by splashing.

Seconds later she felt a bite on her backside, The Local reports.

Ms Castroverde said it was only when she went to flush that she noticed the bright yellow and green snake.

The mother-of-two said the snake was around 20cm long and quickly disappeared down the drain.

Dazed, Ms Castroverde took herself to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.

All of the bathrooms in the building where Ms Castroverde lives have been closed.

"It happened to me, but it could have happened to my two children," she said.

Locals from the northern Spanish town of Naron where she lives claim they are in a state of panic following the incident.

"It's been the talk of the town for days," Ms Castroverde's neighbours said.

"The whole suburb's gone psychotic because of this creature."

A police search for the snake has failed to yield any results.
