Three WWI diggers buried in France

Three Australian soldiers who died fighting around the French village of Pozieres 100 years ago have finally been laid to rest with full military honours.

The remains of the three, whose identities remain unknown, were found in farmland in recent years.

An Australian military contingent, in France for the centenaries of the battles of Fromelles and Pozieres, on Saturday took part in a burial service at the Pozieres British War Cemetery.

The three dead soldiers join 720 other diggers buried at the cemetery.
