That dapper gent on the right could be you.

Buckingham Palace is probably not the first place the average British jobseeker thinks of sending a resume, but the royal website's "inquire within" section is definitely worth keeping an eye on, because right now, Her Majesty the Queen needs a chauffeur.

The Royal Mews (that being the royal stables, carriage house and garage) is looking for a "good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills" who is able to remain "calm under pressure," according to the official website of the British Monarchy.

A full UK driver's license is critical, of course, as is a "strong attention to detail" and a commitment to "maintaining high standards”.

Which is fair enough – after all, you will "play an integral part to the smooth daily running of the Royal Household”.

A bit of experience as a grease-monkey won't go astray either, as you'll be expected to put in a few hours in the garage, and with the likes of the Bentley Mulsanne Diamond Jubilee Edition in the motor pool, a car nut could probably idle away a few hours with a chamois quite happily.

For all this, the Palace is offering an annual salary $47,500, which isn't bad considering accommodation and meals are provided, along with a month's holiday and a 15 per cent super contribution.

There are of course, rigorous security checks to undergo, and this is one employer who will definitely call your referees.
