A Turkish social media influencer says she has been summoned to appear before court for sharing "joke" photos taken inside the Amsterdam Sex Museum.

Merve Taskin, 23, shared pictures of sex toys she bought at the museum during a visit to the city in January last year.

Posting on Instagram this week, the influencer, who has 600,000 followers, said she made "many humorous posts and tweets" while at the museum.

She returned to Turkey after the trip and, several months later, received a summons to appear in court in Istanbul.

"I have court on October 26 due to the posts I made at the Amsterdam sex museum," she told her followers this week.

"I don't know what the judge will decide but thank you for being with me."

In Turkey, sharing obscene content is considered a crime and anyone who publishes it can be fined or sentenced to jail for up to three years.
