Trump releases Clinton Pokemon Go attack video

The front-runners in the US presidential election campaign have seized on the popularity of Pokemon Go as a way to connect with younger voters - in two very different ways.

While Hillary Clinton's camp is holding an official event at a Pokestop in Ohio to lure young voters into registering to vote, Donald Trump has used the game's popularity as another opportunity to attack his rival.

The Trump campaign decided to one-up Clinton's attempt to utilise the game's popularity by creating a mock-Pokemon Go game video called 'Crooked Hillary No', in which users attempt to catch her.

The attack advertisement video features Hillary Clinton's "type" as "career politician".

"Often found lying to the American people, rigging the system, and sharing TOP SECRET emails," the description reads.

Her "next evolution" according to the video: "Unemployed".

Speaking with the Washington Examiner on Thursday morning, prior to the video's release, Trump said that he had heard of the game but was too busy to attempt to play it.

"I don't, but people are playing it. No question about it," he said.

"I do not. I wish I had time."
