Controversial US entrepreneur and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has parted ways with broadcaster NBC after his recent comments about the "rapists" among Mexican immigrants.

NBC issued a statement confirming it would no longer air Trump's programs, including The Apprentice, along with the Miss USA and Miss Universe beauty pageants.

"At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values," the statement read.

"Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr Trump.

"To that end, the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe Pageants, which are part of a joint venture between NBC and Trump, will no longer air on NBC.

"In addition, as Mr Trump has already indicated, he will not be participating in The Apprentice on NBC.

"Celebrity Apprentice is licensed from Mark Burnett’s United Artists Media Group and that relationship will continue."

Trump had recently made some controversial comments about illegal immigrants coming over the southern border from the US.

"They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists," he told attendees at a recent rally as part of his upcoming presidential bid.

"And some, I assume, are good people."

He also speculated the border could admit terrorists to the US in the future.
