Truck slams into garbo cleaning highway and tips over

A garbage collector in China has survived being hit by a truck that tipped over as it swerved to avoid him.

The worker was collecting rubbish in the middle of a multi-lane road in east China's Chuzhou city on Saturday when a dump truck came racing towards him, CCTV reports.

The truck driver said he was driving along normally when a car pulled out in front of him unexpectedly as he approached an intersection.

"My way was blocked so I had to drive into the middle lane," he told the broadcaster.

"Then I saw a garbageman standing there, so I tried to escape him by turning my steering wheel. And then my wheel lost control and the truck turned over."

Footage of the collision shows the swerving truck knock the orange overall-wearing garbo to the ground without running him over.

The sharp turn then throws the vehicle off balance and it spills its load as it tips over.

The rubbish collector and the truck driver both escaped the incident without serious injuries.

Police have said the truck driver was at fault for failing to slow down sufficiently as he approached the intersection.
