Dan Wheldon, the British IndyCar driver, died on this day in 2011 after a horror 15-car crash in an Indy 300 race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Wheldon was the first British driver to win the 500 since Graham Hill in 1966.
After his death was announced his fellow drivers staged a five-lap parade in honour.
