Timelapse video captures massive Cape Town inferno
A timelapse video has captured a section of the huge bushfire emergency services are still battling in the mountains surrounding Cape Town, South Africa.
The video shows a mountain above the town of Lakeside burning relentlessly while smoke and ash pour are blown onto the community below.
The video condenses some two hours of footage down to less than a minute.
The blaze, which started on Sunday, has destroyed thousands of hectares of vegetation and destroyed several homes and at least one business, with the smoke also posing health risks for nearby communities.
Over 50 people from a nursing home near Chapman's Peak have been treated for smoke inhalation.
Over 100 fire fighters are working to extinguish the inferno, which one BBC journalist described as the region's worst in many years.
