Thieves throw chainsaws at cop car during wild chase

A high-speed police chase in the US had officers dodging chainsaws which were being thrown into the middle of the road by the escaping thieves.

Dashcam footage of the chase shows Duluth police tailing the car as it speeds off with the boot wide-open, 11 Alive reports.

Seconds into the pursuit, a chainsaw is thrown from the back of the car narrowly missing the officer's windscreen.

But the chase continued – with the thieves throwing another two chainsaws and a weed-eater at the car.

When they realised they were approaching a dead end, the thieves jumped out of the car and managed to escape by running into the woods.

Police are now trying to enhance the incredible dashcam footage and identify the two men.
