The improvised suicide machines ferrying jihadists to their death

Car bombs have become a staple weapon of choice for Islamic State as they are steadily eradicated by Middle-Eastern and Western forces.

Sky News got a rare glimpse at one of these machines, captured before it could it could be put to deadly use.

“It’s been incredible carefully built,” the reporter said while inspecting the vehicle and its improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The male journalist observed the steel frame covering the front of the armoured truck, capable of withstanding missile attack.

Heavy steel panels welded around the truck, including an addition layer surrounding the engine block would have made it almost impossible to stop.

The camera pans inside the dimly lit, dusty cabin, showing the last thing a suicide jihadist would have seen before blowing themselves up.

“You have what’s called this bar armour to protect the driver with a very small bulletproof windscreen,” he said.

He said the shielded cabin was not intended to keep the driver alive indefinitely, just long enough to reach their target before detonation.
