A group of Texas cops have bought car seats for a struggling dad and his three infant children instead of fining the man for driving without the mandatory safety devices.

Officer Justin Gower said the man had been stopped by officers in Cedar Park previously, and police knew he struggled financially with raising his children, aged one, three and four.

“They’re going in the right direction, and to issue them three citations for each child would just devastate them,” Officer Gower told NBC affiliate Kxan.

“I was upset because it’s extremely dangerous. I have kids and I know how fragile they are, especially how young these kids were.”

But along with his fellow officer Cale Hawkins and other colleagues, the group pooled enough money together to purchase three car seats for the family.

“Money is not the issue, it’s the issue of can you help them, and so that was the easiest way we saw the fastest path to helping them,” Officer Hawkins said.
