'Terrorism has no religion': Muslims take to Twitter to condemn Paris attacks

Muslims around the world have taken to social media to condemn the attacks across Paris, which claimed the lives of at least 120 people.

Using the hashtags #IAmAMuslim and #NotInMyName, Muslim Twitter users have united in grief with Parisians while expressing their abhorrence towards the violence carried out by terrorists in the name of Islam.

Many have quoted Quran verse 5:32 which condemns the taking of innocent life: “Whoever kills an innocent person, it is as if he has killed all of humanity”.

The social media response comes as many users began blaming Muslims for the events in Paris.

Several Muslim religious and political leaders have also denounced the attacks, including Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who called them a “crime against humanity”.
