Syrian schoolchildren filmed ducking for cover from rocket attack

The reality of life inside war-torn Syria has been shockingly exposed by a recent video purportedly showing children ducking for cover as a rocket explodes near their classroom.

The footage, uploaded to LiveLeak on Wednesday, shows the children sitting at their desks when the sound of an approaching rocket can be heard.

The children throw themselves to the floor and cover their ears, miliseconds before the bomb impacts a building near the classroom.

Amid the chaos one child stays seated at his desk the whole time.

Students and the videographer then rush outside, where a large mushroom cloud can be seen rising not far from the school.

The footage was reportedly captured in the city of Idlib, located only 60km from the city of Aleppo, which Islamic State militants are said to control large swathes of.

Doubt has been cast on the video's authenticity but as the uploader noted, such situations are daily occurrences in a country being torn apart by a three-way conflict involving the Assad Government, the Free Syrian Army and Islamic State.

The conflict has reportedly killed around 200,000 people and forced more than one million to flee their homes since beginning in mid-2011.
