Subway platform jumper falls painfully short

This unlucky New Yorker should have listened to his mother's voice ringing in his head when tried to copy a mate who leaped from one subway platform to another and failed painfully.

The shirtless men were killing some time at the 145th Street subway station in Harlem when they were struck with athletic inspiration.

The first guy jumped across the rough 3m-gap successfully, according to a Reddit post from yesterday.

But when his buddy followed he fell only inches short, slamming his stomach into the platform's edge and his head into the ground.

He hopped up, no doubt winded and with bruises to his body and pride.

It's a painful lesson about peer pressure this grown man should have learned long ago.
