Stuntman's sickening crash landing caught on camera

A dirt bike rider was rushed to hospital on Friday night after suffering a serious spinal injury when he crashed while performing a world-first jump at a stunt show in Canada.

Bruce Cook was attempting a double front-flip on his dirt bike when he fell short on the second rotation and crashed hard on the landing ramp, the Toronto Star reports.

A video of the sickening accident posted online shows the Nitro Circus stuntman make a hard landing on the ramp.

Cook, believed to be aged in his 20s, lands on his knees, back arched on the opposite ramp with a sickening thud as his motorbike shoots out from beneath him.

If successful, Cook would have been the first to complete a double front flip on motocross bike.

On the day of the event he took to Facebook to thank his fans for their support and to say that he was "ready to do a couple front flips today".

A Nitro Circus spokesman said Cook had undergone surgery and was recovering with friends and family.

Representatives for the event had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.
