Strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake strikes near Mindanao, Phillipines

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 has been recorded near Mindanao, Philippines, according to the US Geological Survey.
The earthquake occurred at 10.53pm local time (8.53am AEST) with an epicentre 36km southeast of Tamisan, and was estimated at a depth of around 62km.

There is no tsunami threat to Australia, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
