A US store worker has been filmed making the catch of a lifetime — nonchalantly saving a baby's life after it toppled from a trolley.

Security footage shows Home Depot employee Chris Strickland working at the hardware store in Anchorage, Alaska.

He is minding his own business standing a meter of so from the trolley when he glances over and sees the baby seat begin to lurch sideways.

Not stopping to think, Mr Strickland dashes forwards as a small child topples out of the seat.

He lunges down to the floor and catches the child a fraction of a second before it hits the ground.

The worker’s heroic moment was posted as a gif on imgur.com on January 13 by his proud brother who said: “My bro made a nice save at work the other day, and they got it on video, so I thought I’d share with you all.”

Meanwhile, people who spotted the clip have pointed out that baby carriers should not be placed atop trolleys as they cannot be secured properly.
