Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin has been immortalised with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The star was unveiled during an emotional ceremony this morning.

“Never in my wildest dreams," his daughter Bindi Irwin said, choking back tears.

All the members of the Irwin family spoke, paying tribute to the late wildlife warrior.

“He was the best and most incredible conservationist, but also the best dad," son Robert Irwin said.

Nearly 1000 people attended the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, including chef Curtis Stone, actor Beau Bridges and dozens of people wearing khaki.

Many Australians also made the journey.

“We love him and we miss him," Emily Brown said, holding a tribute poster and wearing a hat with Mr Irwin’s famous ‘Crikey’ emblazoned across it.

The Irwin family paid particular tribute to Russell Crowe after the actor wrote a letter of recommendation to the approval committee.

The star sits adjacent to country music legend Johnny Cash and outside the aptly-named 'Iguana' clothing store.
