Mark Hamill may have played one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy, but even he had to ditch his lightsaber for a pair of scissors, to open a new Skywalk in Gibraltar.

Flanked by two Stormtroopers the Star Wars actor was the guest of honour, and put on quite the show in front of the dramatic backdrop.

The 66-year-old opened the tourist attraction by declaring “May the Force be with the Skywalk.”

And it certainly appears that it is, with the floor of the Skywalk made of four layers of laminated glass and is strong enough to hold the weight of 11 Range Rovers, or five elephants.

The scenery from the top of Gibraltar’s iconic landscape also looks like something from a Star Wars movie.

Hamill compared it to Skellig Michael, the rocky island where scenes for The Last Jedi were filmed.

“Unlike Skellig Michael, you can drive to the top of the Rock, which is much appreciated,” he joked.

It’s been a busy few days for Hamill, who’s been touring around Europe to promote the Star Wars franchise.

He received an Icon Award at the Empire Film Awards in London over the weekend, and was also seen enjoying St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Dublin.
