'Snapchat shooter' arrested by Texas police

A Texas man was arrested on robbery charges after a Snapchat video showed him firing a gun from a speeding car.

Mason Kirby Gray, 20, dubbed the ‘Snapchat shooter’, was arrested after the footage was posted on Harris County Sheriff’s Office social media site, authorities announced on Tuesday.

The video shows Gray repeatedly firing an automatic pistol while laughing and smiling from a passenger seat of the car.

Detectives received a tip-off after they posted the Snapchat clip that identified Gray as the suspect involved in a robbery of two service stations last March.

He was also sought for two aggravated robberies in Texas in addition to being identified in the video.

During a court appearance yesterday, a judge set his bail at $US120,000 ($153,000).
