Plane forced to land after snake slithers out of overhead luggage bins

Passengers on an Aeromexico flight were left terrified after they spotted a snake slithering through the overhead luggage bins. 

The flight, traveling from Torreon to Mexico City, made a “quick landing” after the snake was discovered in the cabin, CNN reports.

After the plane landed, animal control crews were reportedly called onto the plane and quickly captured the snake.

Passenger Indalecio Medina shared a video of the ordeal on Twitter with the caption "A unique experience on the flight 231 from Aeromexico".

"The snake arrived alive and kicking, frightened but without having paid its airfare," he wrote.

The airline said in a statement no passengers were injured and it’s revaluating its procedures.

"The procedures carried out for this flight are currently being evaluated to determine how the animal entered the cabin and measures have been taken to avoid such incidents in the future," the airline said in a statement to CNN.

The airline also reportedly confirmed air traffic control allowed the plane a priority landing "due to the presence of the animal".
