The glacial stroll of a mountain avalanche

It might look like it's only strolling down the mountain, but this slow-moving avalanche is a powerful torrent of snow and ice.

At first, the rolling clouds look just like any other vision of an avalanche — until about 10 seconds in when it becomes clear the white storm has barely moved.

When the snail-paced blizzard cascades into a crack on the mountainside its awesome power is revealed.

The wall of ice forms together and ploughs along a frozen river, knocking down trees with listless ease.

Nothing is able to stop the march of ice as it invades the small mountain village.

It pushes down the road like a freight train, past chalets and villas before it comes to a complete stop on the road.

The whole episode unfolds slowly before camera, reminding us how powerless we are against Mother Nature's will.

But after watching this sublime display have to wonder if it's a slow-moving avalanche, of a fast-paced glacier.
