A routine leap transformed into a potentially deadly tangle for a wingsuit jumper after his foot got caught on the plane.

Red Bull skydiver Miles Daisher went to jump out of a Cessna when the bottom of his wingsuit got snagged on a metal step, leaving him flapping upside down from the back of the plane.

The veteran of more than 2,700 BASE jumps said it was "a gnarly situation".

"I’m thinking I better lock this up and keep it together because if I spin this thing it’s going to go bad," he said in a YouTube video already viewed more than 68,000 times.

"I basically stuck my arms out and tried to balance.

"I’m getting basically towed by my foot from a Cessna, from an airplane.

"I’m laying on my back flying a wingsuit backwards."

Daisher was eventually freed from the plane and safely completed the jump.
