Sky News apologises after reporter rifles through MH17 victim's luggage

Sky News has apologised after one of its reporters was filmed rifling through a victim's luggage at the MH17 crash site.

Colin Brazier was at the Ukraine crash site and appeared to lift a number of items that were in an open piece of luggage amid the wreckage.

Mr Brazier even describes the contents, which include clothes, keys and a toothbrush before remarking "we shouldn't really be doing this … I suppose".

But the damage was already done, with social media lighting up with many branding the broadcast "outrageous" and calling for Mr Brazier to be disciplined. Sky News has since issued a statement concerned the incident which reads: "Today, whilst presenting from the site of the MH17 air crash, Colin Brazier reflected on the human tragedy of the event and showed audiences the content of one of the victims' bags.

"Colin immediately recognised that this was inappropriate and said so on air. Both Colin and Sky News apologise profusely for any offence caused."

It's unknown whether any action will be taken against Mr Brazier.
