A popular French singer has hit the deck of a live music venue in Paris after enthusiastically stage diving into a less than full crowd.

Footage shot from a concert-goer shows Shy'm dancing with her band before leaping from the stage into what should have been a packed front row of the crowd.

Instead, the multi-platinum singer disappears through the gaps and falls flat on the deck.

Security patrolling the front of the stage move in to assist but fans slowly raise Shy'm from the floor, with the singer's arms appearing, microphone held aloft.

What could have been an awkward moment turns into something of a triumph, with crowd passing the spreadeagled and smiling singer through the arms of her screaming loyal fans.

It has been suggested that the lack of a comfortable landing for the singer shows the level of fear hanging over Paris since Saturday's attacks.

Of the 132 people killed, 89 died when terrorists stormed the Bataclan concert venue where US rock band Eagles of Death Metal were performing.

The French capital is doing its best to return to normal, but only 4000 people entered Bercy Arena in Paris (capcity 16,000) to watch Shy'm, one of France's most successful artists, perform.

In the days following Saturday's attack, U2, Motorhead, Coldplay and Foo Fighters all cancelled concerts scheduled for Paris.
