Man seriously injured after second shark attack in less than a week off Hawaii
A man has been seriously injured in a shark attack off Hawaii's Big Island, the second such incident in a week to plague the popular island chain.
The man, in his mid 60s, was mauled on Tuesday morning at Anaeho'omalu Bay, the state's Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) confirmed.
Witnesses report the swimmer was attacked by a 12-foot (3.6-metre) tiger shark and sustained injuries to his hip and buttocks.

"The man was taken to North Hawai'i Community Hospital," a statement said.
"Shark warning signs are up at Hawai'i Island's ʻAnaehoʻomalu Bay.
"Additional warning signs have been put up at various resort properties in the area, as well as by ocean sports operators."

The incident comes less than a week after a 60-year-old Washington State woman disappeared off South Maui.
"Her husband and witnesses reported she was attacked by a shark," DLNR said.
"An extensive search of the area around Keawakapu Point in South Maui failed to find the woman."

Tiger sharks are one of three species of sharks considered dangerous to humans; great whites and bull sharks also make the list.
"Due to its large size, scavenging nature and shallow-water feeding, tiger sharks are considered dangerous to people," Australian Museum said.
"The tiger shark grows to at least six metres in length."
