Seven oil workers dead in Mexico accident

Seven workers building an oil platform in Mexico died after an elevator carrying them fell from a height of 30 metres, an official says.
Wednesday's accident happened in Veracruz state on the Gulf of Mexico.
Five of the workers died on the spot and two later in a hospital, said Ricardo Maza, a state civil protection official.

A third worker is in a serious condition.
The accident happened on the grounds of a private company that builds offshore oil platforms for the state-owned company Pemex.
