Serbian tennis star snaps bra strap mid-match

Serbian tennis star Jelena Jankovic was forced to rely on a member of the crowd to perform running repairs on a bra strap that snapped during a match at the Rogers Cup in Montreal.

The world number nine's match against American Sloane Stephens was delicately poised in the fifth game of the first set with the games locked at two all when the embarrassing wardrobe malfunction occurred.

Footage from the match shows Jankovic approach the male chair umpire after a point with the strap clearly broken and hanging off her shoulder as the crowd laughs and then cheers.

The confused umpire tries to re-attach the strap before quickly giving up.

After standing courtside for a moment and sharing a joke with a man in the crowd snapping pictures on his phone, Jankovic gets assistance from a woman in the crowd.

Fans clap as the woman ties the strap, allowing Jankovic to continue.

The Serbian brushed off the malfunction to beat Stephens, 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) in a marathon clash to progress to the third round.
