Second earthquake recorded south of Fiji

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake has been recorded south of Fiji, less than a day after a stronger quake rattled the Pacific Island nation.

The quake struck at a depth of 547km just before 9.30am local time (7.30am AEST) approximately 560km south of Fiji and 560km southwest of Tonga.

There have not been reports of any damage and no tsunami warning has been issued.

It struck just 22 hours after a slightly weaker earthquake hit east of the Fiji islands.
