Scotland will trial a four-day work week
Workers in Scotland are one step closer to a four day work week, after the country announced plans to trial the initiative.
The Scottish National Party (SNP) has followed through on an election promise made in April 2021 before the party's election.
In doing so the country will - at least temporarily - join Spain, New Zealand, Japan and Iceland who have previously adopted a four-day work week, which is tipped to improve productivity.

Wages won't be impacted and employees with see a 20 per cent reduction in hours,Forbes reported.
The SNP will provided AU$18.63 to fund the switch.
When a New Zealand company trialled a four-day work week in 2018 it reported a 20 per cent increase in productivity.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern re-visited the topic in 2020 when she suggested employers should consider the benefits of a four-day work week in a Facebook live video.

"I hear lots of people suggesting we should have a four-day work week," she said.
"Ultimately that really sits between employers and employees.
"But as I've said there's just so much we've learnt about COVID and that flexibility of people working from home, the productivity that can be driven out of that."
