Russian bomber careers off tarmac in aborted take-off

A Russian long-range bomber has aborted its take-off and crashed into trees when the pilot ran out of tarmac.

The TU-22M3 aborted its take-off due to malfunctioning speed sensors.

However it failed to stop, crashing into trees at the end of the runway at Kaluga region's Shaikovka military base.

The crew of four were not hurt in the accident and Moscow air force officials said the plane will return to the air after the damage is repaired.

The crash is being investigated by an Air and Space Forces commission.

New video of the dramatic crash was uploaded to YouTube on Thursday. The crash occurred on September 14.
