Military 'ghost town' blown up

Vladimir Putin's army has used more than 12 tonnes of explosives to wipe an old communist military town off the map.

The defunct military bases, reportedly used in the Cold War, were decimated by the Red Army on December 23 as they were not "uniformly structured".

"They all had a different number of floors, thickness of walls and ceilings, and varying total area," a Russian Defence Ministry (RDM) spokesperson said. 

The exact location of the facility was not disclosed. However, a video showing some of the 85 buildings being obliterated in a ball of flames and dust was shared online.

According to the Siberian Times, a further 100 military buildings will be destroyed in May.
