Union Station in Washington DC evacuated after bomb scare

Union Station in Washington DC was earlier evacuated due to a bomb threat.

NBC Washington reported the Metro Transit Police assisted Amtrak police to investigate a suspicious package.

Witnesses outside Union Station posted video footage at around 5.30pm (local time) showing crowds leaving the building.

The station was given the all-clear around half an hour later, according to The Atlantic.

Metro Transit Police tweeted that the suspicious package was searched with the help of police sniffer dogs.
