A Chinese TV reporter doing a live cross was nearly swept away in a raging torrent of water when a levee right behind him suddenly broke.

The CCTV News reporter was covering floods in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province in China, on Tuesday when he was forced to make a quick dash for survival.

As he stands under an umbrella and speaks into the microphone, suddenly the levee gives way behind him and both the reporter and cameraman are on the run.

The two are sprinting for safety, but with the camera still rolling we get a Bear Grylls’ style perspective on wild nature.

With higher ground reached they take a moment to capture footage of the roaring waters that could have easily washed them away.

Jiangsu has been hit by heavy rain for the past two weeks causing mass flooding and damage across the region.
