New loop-the-loop waterslide set to shatter world records

A waterslide set to become commercially available next year is expected to smash world records for speed and feature the world's first loop-the-loop.

SkyCaliber is nearing the end stages of development and testing in Missouri, with the team behind it claiming thrillseekers will reach speeds of 80 km/h and a g-force of 5.

It also boasts the tallest vertical loop and, at a stomach-churning height of 27 metres, the world's first vertical freefall.

"The rider is launched from 27 metres down a completely vertical free fall that leads into a 9 metre tall vertical loop", manufacturer Adrian Duke told Mail Online.

"All of the records are pending Guiness World Records measurement but we have internally confirmed these."

And what about those pesky safety concerns?

"We have undergone extensive testing and engineering to ensure that riders are safe," Mr Duke said.

"We have also added in mesh siding so that the riders cannot put their hands out and touch the slide at the same time as maintaining airflow so that the rider isn't claustrophobic and still gets wet, after all it is a waterslide."
