Reality contestant filmed falling off a cliff

A teenage contestant on Bear Grylls' reality series has escaped death after he lost his footing while manoeuvring a mountainside, plummeting onto the coastal rocks below.

Fellow campmates on The Island With Bear Grylls screamed in horror as 19-year old student Patrick Dauncey fell off a coastal cliff face on an uninhabited Pacific island during a team expedition.

Contestant and camp doctor Daniel Quemby told Digital Spy his young campmate miraculously survived the fall with minimal injury.

"I honestly thought I'd be speaking to the coroners. I honestly thought at best he would be paralysed, or at worst he would be dead," he said.

Now in its third season, the television series bands together a group of contestants with a variety of skillsets in a bid to survive on a remote island.
