Fast-acting Lithuanian police saved a choking baby's life when they responded to the boy's father's desperate screams.

The officers were patrolling the town of Vilnus on Wednesday last week when a driver flagged them down, jumped out of the car with his child and wife and told them to go "as fast as they could, to any hospital".  The entire incident was captured on police dashcam.

The eight-month-old boy had been eating in the car and had choked on a chunk of food.  The situation was already dire – the child had passed out and was turning blue.

Realising there wasn't a minute to spare, police hit the sirens at set off at 120 kmh to Vilnus University Children's Hospital where the blockage in the infant's trachea was dislodged.
