Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas split

Prince Harry and his model girlfriend Cressida Bonas have split-up after dating for two years, according to media reports.

A source close to the 29-year-old prince confirmed the split to US magazine People and claimed the relationship had been broken off by Harry.

"He found her too needy and it just wasn't working out," the source told People.

According to other reports, the couple have "paused for a breather" and could get back together.

"The relationship has certainly at least paused for a breather," a source told UK newspaper the Telegraph.

"It is virtually impossible to have a successful romance and relationship in the full glare of the world's media."

However, Prince Harry is said to be "furious" at the suggestion the pair split as a result of Ms Bonas relying too much on him, with an unnamed friend telling the MailOnline the separation was "very amicable".

"Unfortunately it is true, they have split up. But this suggestion that the prince supposedly 'dumped' Cressida because she was 'too needy' is so wide of the mark," the friend said.

"It is a very amicable split and they are still very much the best of friends. They have just decided to go their separate ways."

It is claimed Ms Bonas is eager to "focus on her career" after recently graduating from the Laban school of dance.

The break-up follows recent speculation the couple may be ready to wed after Ms Bonas, 25, attended an official engagement with the prince for the first time.

The couple met through Princess Eugenie, a close friend of Ms Bonas.
