Islamic State supporter admits to encouraging attacks on Prince George

An alleged Islamic State supporter who called for attacks on Prince George has admitted to a string of terror charges.

Husnain Rashid brought his trial in a UK court to a dramatic halt after he changed his plea to guilty.

He was two weeks into his trial at Woolwich Crown Court when he admitted to three counts of engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts and one count of encouraging terrorism.

Judge Andrew Lees then put two further charges on hold.

The trial, which had been scheduled to last six weeks, was abruptly ended because of the plea.Sentencing is set for June 28.

The prosecution had argued that Rashid ran a "prolific" Telegram channel named the Lone Mujahid.

Prosecutor Annabel Darlow had earlier told a jury that Rashid encouraged attacks on a range of targets, including "Prince George at his first school."

Judge Lees told the defendant: "For the past week I have listened to the most disturbing allegations.

"You have admitted these allegations of encouraging others to commit terrorist activities and publishing statements to encourage the killing of others.

"It is inevitable that you will receive a very lengthy prison sentence and there will be a consideration of a life prison sentence."

He added: "The question of your future dangerousness and the protection of the public is a matter that I will have to give very careful consideration."

Rashid will be sentenced on June 28.
