Pregnant dachshund rescued by firefighters

US firefighters have saved a pregnant dog after she was exposed to smoke in house fire.

The fire department in Pueblo, Colorado rescued the expecting dachshund after a fire broke out at a family home.

No one was home at the time but the fire department said the home was filled with animals when the fire broke out.

It is unknown how many of the pets survived but at least one dog died from inhaling the smoke in the home.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by police.
